Burning the sacrifice, offering the smell and leaving, is the utmost respect. In the suburban sacrifice, the great report to the sky is the main sun, and the moon is paired with it. The Xiahou clan sacrificed to the dark, the Yin people sacrificed to the yang, and the Zhou people sacrificed to the sun, starting in the morning and in the dark. Sacrifice to the sun on the altar, and sacrifice to the moon on the pit, to distinguish between the living and the dead, and to control the upper and lower. Sacrifice the sun in the east and the moon in the west to distinguish the outside from the inside and to set their positions. The sun rises in the east and the moon rises in the west. The length and shortness of yin and yang, the beginning and the end, are in rotation, so as to achieve harmony in the world. The rituals of the world are to return to the beginning, to respect ghosts and gods, to achieve harmony, to achieve righteousness, and to achieve yielding. The Master said: “A ruler of a country should make clear what is good and what is bad, so as to show the people kindness, and then the people will not be double-minded. The Book of Songs says: ‘Be calm and share your position, and be good at being upright. ’” The Master said: “If the superior is suspicious, the people will be confused; if the subordinate is difficult to know, the ruler will be overworked. Therefore, a ruler who governs the people should make clear what is good to show the people, be careful of what is bad to prevent the people from being licentious, and then the people will not be confused. The ministers should follow the manners, not be heavy-handed, not support what they cannot do, and not bother what they do not know, and then the ruler will not be overworked. The Book of Songs says: ‘The God is strict, and the people are at peace. ’ The Xiaoya says: ‘It is not that they only share, but that the king is in harmony. ’”

Ziyun: "Rites are used to clarify doubts and distinguish subtle things, which are used to censor the people. "Therefore, the noble and the humble have different levels, clothes are different, and there are positions in the court, so the people will give way to each other. Confucius said: "There is no two suns in the sky, no two kings on earth, no two masters in the family, and no two superiors. This shows the people that there is a difference between the monarch and the minister." The Spring and Autumn Annals does not refer to the funeral of the king of Chu and Yue, the ritual king does not refer to the sky, and the officials do not refer to the monarch, fearing that the people will be confused. The Book of Songs says: "Why don't we meet each other in the morning? I am still worried about it." Confucius said: "The king does not ride in the same car with people of the same surname, and ride in the same car with people of different surnames but wear different clothes, showing that the people do not dislike it." In this way, the people can still kill their monarch with the same surname.
