May your youth be without regrets

Confucian scholars live in a difficult place, sit up and stand respectfully, speak first and be honest, and act uprightly. They do not compete for the benefits of danger and ease on the road, and do not compete for the harmony of yin and yang in winter and summer. They love death and wait for it, and nourish their bodies and do things. They are like this in their preparation.

One bird determines the outcome

The reason why the ancient kings ruled the world is five: valuing virtue, valuing nobility, valuing the elderly, respecting the elders, and loving the young. These five are the reason why the ancient kings ruled the world. Valuing virtue, why? Because it is close to the Tao. Valuing nobility is because it is close to the monarch. Valuing the elderly is because it is close to relatives. Respecting the elders is because it is close to brothers. Loving the young is because it is close to children. Therefore, the most filial is close to the king, and the most brotherly is close to the hegemon. The most filial is close to the king, even if it is the emperor, there must be a father; the most brotherly is close to the hegemon, even if it is a prince, there must be a brother. The teachings of the ancient kings are followed and not changed, so they can lead the world and the country. Confucius said: "To establish love from one's relatives is to teach people to be harmonious. To establish education from one's elders is to teach people to be obedient. Teach people to be kind and harmonious, and people will value being close to one's relatives; teach people to respect elders, and people will value being obedient. Filial piety to parents, obedience to orders, and this is practiced throughout the world."

Mixed worldly people

Guo Jingchun crossed the river and lived in Jiyang. His tomb was less than a hundred steps away from the water, so people at that time thought it was close to the water. Jing Chun said: "It will become land in the future." Now the sand has risen, and the land dozens of miles away from the tomb is all mulberry fields. His poem goes like this: "The northern hill is fierce, the vast ocean is turbulent; the three tombs are piled up, only the mother and the Kun."8 Prime Minister Wang ordered Guo Pu to try to make a hexagram. When the hexagram was completed, Guo looked very unhappy and said, "You will have a disaster!" The king asked, "Is there a way to avoid it?" Guo said, "I will order my carriage to go west for a few miles and find a cypress tree. I will cut it into a piece as long as you, and place it on your bed as a regular place to sleep. Then the disaster will be avoided." The king followed his advice. Within a few days, the fruit was crushed to pieces, and the children and young men all celebrated. The general said, "You are again putting the blame on the trees."

I heard I'll be super rich in the future

When the king's messenger arrives, the host should come out and bow to show his disgrace to the king's words; when the messenger returns, he must bow and see him off at the door. If you send someone to the king's place, you must dress in court and give orders; if the envoy returns, you must go downstairs and receive orders.

You are the joy of youth

Wang Lantian was a late bloomer and was considered a fool by his contemporaries. Prime Minister Wang appointed him as an official because of his status as a Donghaizi. They often gathered together, and whenever the prince spoke, everyone would compete to praise him. Shu sat at the end and said, "The lord is not Yao or Shun, so how can he be right in everything?" The prime minister was very impressed.
